The legal facts
Legal brothels near Las Vegas: what visitors should know

Nevada does allow licensed brothels in some rural counties, and the nearest ones are in Nye County, around Pahrump, about an hour west of the Strip. This page is about the law and the practical facts, so you can tell the legal option from the scams that target visitors in Las Vegas itself.
What the law says
- State law bans prostitution in counties with large populations, including Clark County, home of Las Vegas. It is also illegal in Reno and Carson City.
- Licensed brothels are allowed only in certain rural counties. About ten of Nevada's 17 counties permit them, and only some have working brothels.
- Nevada law requires registered workers to be tested regularly for sexually transmitted infections, and condoms are mandatory.
- Anything offered in Las Vegas, on a street card, in a casino or hotel, or online, is not part of this system.
